“Go forth with a grateful heart and a belly full of pie”
~ Boo
Born in the tri-cities area of central Michigan, Marylee “Boo” Teichthesen McIntyre honed her baking skills working along side her talented mother and grandmother. From gathering fruits in the orchards, to prepping and baking, Boo and her siblings were expected to be a part of the baking process. The three generations worked side-by-side creating pies, breads, cookies and more. Her mother spearheaded an annual Christmas cookie tradition, baking dozens of different types of cookies for family, friends and coworkers. Boo has carried on this tradition out of love and respect of these wonderful memories.
When Boo’s career in the finance industry in Detroit ended, she found her way to Joshua Tree in the high desert of Southern California. Unable to find work in finance, she decided to pursue her lifelong dream of baking and began selling her artisan pastries through a local cafe.
Boo’s love for baking and her desire to honor her generational traditions are the foundation of her bakery. The modified family recipes and original organic, vegan and gluten-free creations are now well known in Joshua Tree by locals and tourists alike.
